New name and an increased commitment to Saving young lives

RYDA Australia has changed its name to Road Safety Education Limited. Speaking at the launch of the new name, Road Safety Education Limited CEO Terry Birss said that the name change better reflects the mission of the organisation in helping to reduce youth road trauma in Australia. “Road Safety Education Limited, in association with our community partner, Rotary, will continue to provide our core road safety education initiative, the RYDA Program, to young people across Australia. More than 40,000 students now attend the RYDA Program annually and we will soon celebrate attendance from our 250,000th student” Mr Birss said. Read more here

Good, Better, Best

Choosing a road safety education program is a bit like selecting a safe car you should only choose a program that performs best when bench-marked against what research indicates will produce the best outcome for the students. Most jurisdictions across Australia and New Zealand have published guidelines or principles on what constitutes “Best Practice” for youth road safety education. RYDA has used these guidelines to help produce a highly respected and effective, award winning Program. Read more here

RYDA Turns 10

When a group of Rotarians committed themselves to filling a vacuum in the education of senior school students at about the time when they would start driving, no one would have imagined where, a decade later, their efforts would take them. Today, the RYDA Program is the pre-eminent national road safety program for youth. On Monday, 7 March 2019, RYDA celebrated a decade of progress and development and recognition of those that helped make it happen. Read more here

Suncorp CTP Now a Major Sponsor of RYDA

RYDA Wins 2017 Queensland Road Safety Award

The RYDA Program received a major honour when it was presented with the 2017 Queensland Road Safety Award in the Community category by the Minister for Transport, Hon Rachel Nolan at Parliament House on Thursday, 8 October.

The Awards are designed to recognise and honour the outstanding efforts of community groups, companies or industry groups, schools, local and state government initiatives, as well as inventions and innovations designed to improve road safety. Read more in the Spring Newsletter

Tasmanian Government Funding for RYDA

The Tasmanian Premier, David Bartlett announced in September that a range of new initiatives for combating Tasmania's road toll would be introduced, including a stronger focus on young driver education. The Premier said that funding of $100,000 would be provided to enable every government high school student in Tasmania to have access to the RYDA road safety education program. NSW Premier Congratulates Rotary on RYDA

The NSW Premier, Nathan Rees visited the RYDA venue at Penrith in Western Sydney on 24 July to support the program with ongoing State Government funding and to meet the 100,000th student who has now attending the RYDA Program in NSW. Read more here
