A powerful presentation by a crash survivor who has a brain injury as a result of a vehicle crash. The session demonstrates to students that car crashes can happen to them and that such crashes can leave permanent trauma for the survivor, their families and the community at large.
Food for thought...
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? What impact would a brain injury have on your plans for the future (career, family, sports)?
Do you think you would remain active in your current circle of friends if you suffered a brain injury?
For students to understand that their behaviour on the road may result in a serious and long-term injury, not only to themselves but to their loved ones and other road users
At the conclusion of this session, students will:
• understand the long-term consequences of a crash
• be able to list at least three long-term effects of a brain injury
